Sissy, Sissy

Since finding out that we were having triplets, we have wondered about the dynamics of the "group". Once we knew there were two girls and one boy, we wondered again how that would play out for them. You hear a lot about the connection between twins, multiples, etc. Most of the time there are more references made to the relationship between identical twins (or triplets or more) than fraternal ones. Fraternal triplets are really just siblings born at the same time, whereas identicals share a DNA match (I believe - feel free to correct me if I'm wrong because I don't want to stop to look it up). We don't really know how they will get along as the years go by, but I'm sure that is the case with ALL parents of more than one child. We feel fortunate that they have their own "playgroup". Making play dates really hasn't been a top priority for us yet. We've been avoiding the major germs until they hit the ripe old age of two, but we hope that they are learning some social skills by playing with their siblings for now that will make relationships with other children go smoothly (a mom can dream, right????).
Earlier this evening when I glanced in the playroom and caught a glimpse of the girls being all cute and nice and girlie together, I needed to get a picture. I rushed for the camera and was barely able to get any shots. And then they broke into "Ring Around the Rosie" together. Very precious.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to get to the camera the other day when there were some sweet moments between Clark and Kendall, so I can't prove it. She was patting him and kissing him and he was all giggly. They hugged and sort of held hands for a minute before running in different directions. Emma was at the table looking at books and glanced over to catch some of the exchange and could have cared less. I think she was relieved that Clark wasn't stealing the book she was reading.
We can often hear the kids giggling and laughing together and try to stay out of it so that they will enjoy each other's company, but these moments where they are hugging and being affectionate are just so sweet and I feel privileged to witness them. I hope there are many more to come.
