Taco Night

The Louis family (as a party of five) had our first "Taco Night" together tonight.  Troy and I have enjoyed many "theme night meals" as a joke in the past, but we thought it might be a way to get our kids involved in cooking, planning or just more interested in eating the meals if we turn to theme nights as they get older.  We both love tacos and decided to try it out, though they aren't really big meat eaters.  I won't say it was a hit but not a miss either.  They seemed to like them, sort of, and even ate some of the taco meat.  Kendall and Clark also liked the taco sauce that Daddy loves to use and they asked for Mommy's sour cream.   Next time we will try chicken, some rice and maybe beans too.

Dessert was vanilla pudding with chocolate sauce and a couple of animal crackers for fun.  One of our sitters fixed them chocolate pudding last week and they haven't been the slightest bit interested in vanilla since then.   My thoughts were that the chocolate sauce might do the trick and get them to eat the vanilla (we were out of chocolate).  It did seem to work for Clark and Emma.  Check it out.....

Clark grabbed the bib behind him in the chair during dinner and who was I to argue with a kid who is trying to be neat?  I didn't have the heart to tell him that it was pink and had a big, fat "K" on it which indicates that it belongs to his sister.  It didn't really help the mess either because I found taco ingredients stuck to his shorts and his shirt.
All in all, it was a good experience.  Well, right up until Clark threw up.  Twice.  Oops.  I'm not sure what triggered that particular issue, but he was having a pretty big fit after dinner, so I'm hoping that it was just related to that rather than a problem with the dinner or something else. Crossing my fingers that he is feeling good tomorrow.
Sorry I'm not full of exciting posts but I'm just sort of swamped trying to keep my head above water.  I'm excited that Tuesday I will have a chance to clean house when the kids are out for a few hours.  Woo hoo!
In the meantime, "Happy Clean Sheet Sunday!".  It's going to feel GREAT to get into bed tonight!
